How to disable the y-axis labels?

Set 'Label length (y-axis), under the settings to 0.

All timelines are equal length, what to do?

Check that data roles 'Start date' and 'End date' are not using date hierarchies. To do this, select the data field name instead or date hierarchy from drom down list. See the screenshot below.
