Original report from pnmitch@yahoo.co.uk at 12:55:40 on 2011-11-28

Hi Matt,

For the last few days I've not been able to download any programmes using Radio Downloader. The files appear to download and convert with no problem but when the progress bar is completely full I get an error message - "An unknown error occurred when trying to download this programme". It had been working fine up until Wednesday or Thursday of last week.
I've reported the error (ref 26773).
I'm using Windows XP.The files I have been trying to download are a mixture of programmes from Radio 4 and 6 Music.

Radio Downloader is an absolutely brilliant piece of kit that has given me many happy hours of listening, so any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Paul

Thanks for the good bug report - most people forget to include the error ID...

How much free space have you got on the drive that you are saving your downloads to?

Hi Matt, thanks for the quick response.

I've just checked my external hard drive, and the answer to your question is not a lot! Only 42 MB. I had no idea I had so much on there!
I'll clear some space and try again, and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again for your help, and sorry to have wasted your time unnecessarily.

Paul

Hi Matt,

Just to confirm, that has worked. I think a major clear out of my hard drive is in order!

Thanks again for your help, and sorry for the confusion.

Cheers, Paul

Not at all - it is still a bug, just one with an easy workaround (freeing up some disk space). I've been thinking lately that it would be worth introducing a check for free disk space in the download location before starting a download, so I will make this bug cover that.

Implemented my suggestion from comment 4 in 6a3bb4d, so downloads now fail with a 'Local Problem' and a message explaining why if there is less than 250 MB of free space in the download save location.
