Just For Information:
Here are some tips on how to properly update the "Setup" version and take advantage of all the new features added/changed and all the fixes of the BETA/RC versions... 馃槈

  • Only 3 executable, 1 directory and eventuelly 3 .ini files have to be copied from the "Notepad3Portable" BETA/RC version and "added/replaced" in the following places:

Assuming that we update the x64 version:

  • the 3 following executable (see picture) and 1 directory have to be copied from: "Notepad3Portable\App\Notepad3\x64" and copied to: "C:\Program Files\Notepad3"

NP3_PAF_Portable

  • Eventually the 3 .ini files have to be copied from:
    "Notepad3Portable\App\DefaultData\settings" and copied to: (%APPDATA%\Rizonesoft\Notepad3)

NP3_INI_Files

Note: The replacement of the 3 .ini files is not mandatory, but in case of replacement of "Notepad3.ini",

  • 1st, make sure to have a backup of your current *.ini files.
  • 2nd, start once Notepad3 from "Notepad3Portable" to create a proper (pristine) .ini file in "Notepad3Portable\App\DefaultData\settings".
  • 3th, to assume of a good functioning of the "Setup" version from a "pristine file" coming from a Notepad3Portable version, add this key:
    "Favorites=%APPDATA%\Rizonesoft\Notepad3\Favorites" in [ Settings ]

@hpwamr : The installed .ini files in themes directory (schemes) must not be overridden by a new Installation. This files may have been changed by user (Customize Schemes... in case of one of the schemes is loaded).

Hello @RaiKoHoff ,
After testing, I confirm that the Notepad3 Setup x86 and x64,

  • if they do NOT exist, it creates the themes directories (schemes) and Favorites. 馃憤
  • if they exist, it does NOT touch the themes directories (schemes) and the Favorites (do not delete, nor update them). 馃憤

As BETA/RC Setup versions (with all BETA/RC features/fixes at build date) are available in issue #1129, this method is deprecated... 馃
