The version 0.0.3 seems to be broken, I couldn't create a new stack using it following the installation instructions, but it works if I gem 'stax', git: 'https://github.com/rlister/stax' instead - Unfortunately, I don't have the error anymore, but it should be easy to reproduce.

If GitHub is the way to go, it is probably worth to update the README accordingly, it is currently suggesting to use RubyGems.
