This would be a nice plus, but the current google maps API (v3) doesn't help much, as it's not compatible with the Earth view for some reason.

It should look something like what is here:
http://www.google.com/earth/explore/products/earthview.html

But given this ticket it might simply never happen:
http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=1480

There might be another way though.
