The statement here is misleading: https://github.com/roots/sage#theme-installation

Clone the git repo - git clone https://github.com/roots/sage.git and then rename the directory to the name of your theme or website.

Wouldn't a better statement be?

git clone https://github.com/roots/sage.git my-theme

Or even better to just download the zip and not even worry about git? Considering a user will never be updating Sage?

Additionally its probably best to remove the .git folder.

I've recently inherited a project using Sage, and have been reading docs, and planned making suggestions, and comments towards improving Sage for others like myself with better documentation.

Thus far it seems to be summarized best in your own docs

The fact that Sage goes against “the WordPress way”
