Highlight actual zero-space characters

Wrap the zero-space characters in a span and style them to make them visible (width, background-color, etc)

@kip-13 that would be great. If you can wrap the zero-width character in a span and give that span a class (.zero-width-character? maybe), I can style it. I just pushed a change.
