Since I created the app, Ryan has done a fantastic job with his dedicated package called {brickr} which has much more streamlined functions to produce mosaics. It looks like he built some internal functions to address most of my ideas in this issue, but I need to do some prototyping outside of the app first

This will be a good chance to implement one of the recommendations in Engineering Production-Grade Shiny Apps by creating an R-markdown document exploring {brickr} so I can explore backend functionality without having to run the app every time.
