I know this has been requested before and shot down, but it would be greatly appreciated if it was possible to install this dependency on windows and/or Ubuntu without wiringpi being installed as a package on the computer.

I have never seen any library before that requires you to have an external system installed to be able to build the project.
There are so many projects out there that you build for a certain environment, and only run in that environment, but write in another environment, with things mocked.

I don't get why I have to run IntelliJ on a Raspbian machine to write programs for this?
