Once it's been shown in the initial animation, only the song title is visible. It would be nice to always be able to see the artist name and album title too, even if it obscures a considerable amount of the album art.

That mockup only shows the artist and song title (and not the album title), but I think that would be OK too.
I mostly need this when I'm listening to things on shuffle and something comes up I haven't heard in a while and can't remember, or if I'm listening to a new compilation and the artist is changing frequently.
This also happens because I don't have 'use cover art as notification' and only check it when I want to know the song/artist, so I miss the initial song info animation.
Ah, actually, I misread the original post. It would be great if there was a UI pref for the artist/album preference to be shown permanently, as well as the song name (this would be too much information for the small album view, but ok for the larger views).
