Adding a second Xiaomi Philips Ceiling Light to Home Assistant

I finally managed to add one light to Home Assistant. Thank you :)

But now I am stuck on adding a second.

I added the first by adding the Xiaomi Philips Lights Integration via HACS, then editing configuration.yaml

Adding a second...

caused a conflict in the editor...

duplicated mapping key at line 23, column -168:
    light:
    ^

Now niether light works via Home assistant.

If I edit the line "light:" to "light2:" for instance, and then Check Configuration via Server Controls, I get the error...

Integration error: light2 - Integration 'light2' not found.

EDIT: Sorry, I realise what I was doing wrong. The config should look like this...

But the new "Front Light" is still saying unavailable.

Edit 2: In the Xiaomi App, (Front Light) Additional Settings > Network info, it says Current Mode: Network connection.

For the Back Light, at least for a moment, it said Remote Connection.

What is that all about?

That seems to be some custom component, where did you find it? It would be great to get this back to the main integration at some point to make it simpler to avoid breaking things when the code gets refactored.

Ohh, I was just about writing that you should define the platform twice... It should work that way, but your most recent edit (wrt. "remote connection") may indicate that it's somehow not accessible in your local network but is controlled over the cloud.

I'm using the terminal within Home Assistant, which is installed on a linux virtual machine on Windows, if that helps you help me.

Okay, I understand. The thing is, there is so many different layers of "things" in-between especially when using the homeassistant os that is not a regular linux installation, that I cannot really start writing instructions how to install regular pypi packages on that system...

As xiaomi_miio_philipslight is a custom component, I'd suggest you try to create an issue to their issue tracker, or alternatively, use the homeassistant community forums https://community.home-assistant.io/ to get some more help on your original problem assuming there are other people using this custom component :-)

Two ideas:

1. Please try the official xiaomi_miio component first. Your device (philips.light.ceiling) should be supported. This component/integration needs to be added via config flow (settings -> integrations -> add integration)

2. The custom component xiaomi_miio_philipslight supports this device too but is pretty outdated at the moment. In the past it was somehow the beta/alpha version of the official component.

Your issue in detail: You've to make sure both devices are accessible via "network connection" because this is the API which is used by python-miio to control the device. If your smartphone is unable to control the device directly (without cloud / remote connection) this implementation is also unable to control your device.

That was not easy, getting them to both show up on the overview dashboard, and I've messed about with it so much, that I no longer know exactly what I did to get it working, but it is indeed now working :) :) :)
