We need some Google Reader sync up in here #19
Comments
I'd like Google Reader sync as well. I like to use Google Reader as my master list of feeds I follow, and it serves as an excellent backend for syncing between multiple feed readers. That way, it would be seamless to switch between NewsBlur, Google Reader, and others. I also have an extensive history of "liked," "starred" and "shared" stories, and it would be awesome if NewsBlur could sync all that. NewsBlur could still take a different direction, but simple things could stay compatible. I understand it's not a priority, but it's something I (and I'm guessing many others) would really like to see. |
+1 for google sync (read/unread is enough for me). it is the only thing keeping me from really using newsblur instead of reeder. |
About two-way sync: it wouldn't make sense. Since NewsBlur hides stories below your intelligence threshold, many stories would be unread in Reader but simply hidden in NewsBlur. That, and the whole story sync problem would be a huge bear. It comes down to NewsBlur being its own reader. The import from Google Reader is the only time NewsBlur talks to Reader. I'm thinking about further integration with Google using Google Contacts (for a Email Story feature), but that's about it. |
I whole heartily think that Google Reader needs a challenger, I ponyed up and got some pro status on newsblur, but I can't use it yet. My feed reading is not chained to one device, or one piece of software.
I really think we need a sync backend, and google reader can be that sync. You can build social on top of google reader, by just "sharing" things into google reader mayby.
