In Settings->General->"Download path (not Fat32)" I cannot choose network drives/NFS/SMB or anything else, just folders on local machine (in my case Android TV).
I have KODI on my Android TV which has 8GB storage, I want to set download path a USB stick (plugged to my TV) or SMB/NFS on my local network, but I can't do it, there is no way to select something from File Manager (UPnP, SMB, USB stick, NFS, ...). So I cannot stream movies larger than my available space in Andorid TV :/

I have Quasar on my MAC and it allows to do this. Not sure if it is related to Quasar version or Platform that Kodi runs on.

Any ideas when this will be fixed? Or how can I workaround this?

I have the same problem for a long time and still not found the solution, so I use a usb key for storage to be able to view with quasar. I have a box android TV (MIBoX3) with 8G. I use Kodi also on pc windows and I have not this problem to choose the place of storage, with the same version of kodi, quasar and quasar burst. I think but maybe I'm wrong that it is the Android version of the MIBOX (version 6.0.1) that blocked some access, or the box itself is flanged. If someone has a solution you are welcome.

@JaqenGOT thanks for your reply, sorry to hear you experiencing same problem, but at least I am not alone here :)
I have Android 7 on my Sony TV and USB does not help me either. I don't see a view where I could change location (to usb or network drives), it's just a view where I can browse my TV file system. I guess that's a bug, that nobody has raised before. Hopefully it will get attention and will be fixed soon.

I have the same problem . I tried to save my pen drive in usb port to save the torrente in quasar . but not aceepted write in the usb drive .

I sow a tutorial i will try tonight if Works or no ???

TVBOX android lollipo 5.1 m9s+

I fought with getting Quasar with external USB storage on Android TV working and thought I would share the fix.
This works with a Mi Box - Android 6.0 TV Box.
Format your USB stick as extFAT format.
Create a folder structure like this on the USB stick.
\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi\files\Quasar
Insert USB stick into Mi Box.
Open Quasar settings.
Click on “Download path (not FAT32)” and select the folder we previously created.
\Storage\04384xxxxx\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi\files\Quasar
Save the settings.
Enjoy!

  1. Get the root
  2. We put the latest version of the Xposed Installer v3.1.1
  3. After installation in the shell itself, install Xposed itself, reboot, go into the shell, check that it was installed
  4. Go to the modules, download and install the XInternalSD module, activate, reboot
  5. We rejoice in full access

@dududobadoo after doing exactly as you wrote, I can't find that folder structure when exploring the storage with “Download path (not FAT32)” ... any idea?
