I have the matlabr (GH: https://github.com/muschellij2/matlabr, CRAN: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/matlabr/) package and we have seemed to implement the same ideas. Maybe we should merge at some point

Thank you for the suggestion. In principle, this is something we could do. I am interested to develop the "reach" package with others, in particular to add better Windows support. Merging our packages will come with some (or rather lots of) work/ discussions / decision making/ opportunities, for which I don't have enough time in the next three months. However, you can contact me using email and make specific suggestions or propose specific changes, so we can see whether our ideas align.
