%%PYTHON_SITELIBDIR%%/chempy/__init__.py is also installed by chempy https://pypi.org/project/chempy.

It should require chempy as a dependency instead of installing it.

Those two chempy packages are not related. The name conflict is unfortunate.

Why don't you rename it then when you install it? PyPI is a standard way of package naming in Python. There can't be two packages with the same name.

PyMOL's chempy package is much older (exists since 2000) than this other chempy package (exists since 2015).

We'll investigate the feasibility of renaming ours, but that will probably not happen in the short term.
