These commands

$ git clone https://github.com/scottfrederick/cf-java-client
$ cd cf-java-client

must refer to cf-java-client-sample, not cf-java-client.

And the jar must be cf-java-client-sample-1.0.jar, not cf-java-client-1.0.jar inside the various commands.
