PageDAO

Project Description

Private Books (content NFTs) using Secret Network for EVM environments.

We intend to create a dAPP that will enable a user to own published content assets and transact with those assets on public EVM-based blockchains using Secret Network. In particular, our use-case is books and shorter length content NFTs.

We have been watching Secret Network for years at this point and have a lot of use cases in mind, of which this is only the first.

Problem / Solution
People interacting in the Ethereum ecosystem have poor access to quality publishing tools, and little or no privacy in traditional content-oriented ecosystems. PageDAO is building a variety of projects intended to make it easier than ever to add literary content to public blockchains, and Secret Network can supply the encryption/anonymity to empower people to feel safe and comfortable collecting literature onchain.

Detailed product description
PageDAO will offer a few different products that will, together, constitute a powerful onchain literature application. As a way to bring offchain works into the onchain environment, (d)ISBN is a product that will open the way to the literature that exists so that it can be represented onchain. Readme Books already enables a user to mint an open book for the world to read as a tradeable asset on the Polygon blockchain, and a future offering of this product will empower users to own their own contract as they mint to the blockchain of their choice in the EVM domain. PageDAO Membership NFTs already control access to core PageDAO functions such as Readme Books and Governance, and this functionality can be expanded as development progresses. Finally, PageDAO is rebuilding its website to better represent the brand and offer users access to more information in a more structured way.

Go-to-Market plan
PageDAO’s value proposition is to use the Secret Network technology to offer real value to existing users who are already seeking unlockable books onchain, which showcases the unique Secret Network NFT properties. Privacy-first book purchasing helped Amazon build the internet in the Web1 era, Secret Network can empower privacy-first book purchasing to lead the Cosmos ecosystem to a new height of user adoption in the Web3 era.

Value capture for Secret Network ecosystem
Secret Network will capture transactions involving privacy across the PageDAO application footprint, which is poised to have a historic 2024. Every mint and trade involving an asset created behind the veil of Secret Network’s privacy tools will directly contribute a transaction fee to the Secret Network ecosystem.

Overview:

Every author, reader, and publisher using PageDAO’s platform will have a Secret Network smart contract account and benefit from Secret Network’s PaaS. Some durations listed in each section overlap.

Summary:

The total grant funding request is $20,000. At startup, 15% or $3,000 will be transferred to initialize the relationship. The remaining 85% of grant funds will be distributed after completion of two technical milestones, first launching the mainnet MVP application and second driving users to that application, in the amounts of $7,500 and $9,500.

All sums are acceptable in $SCRT tokens sent to the PageDAO Treasury on Osmosis.

PageDAO Treasury Address:

Signing Bonus: $3,000

GOAL 1: Buildout website to support minter/user accounts/smart contract (weeks 0 - 6) $7,500

Milestone Notes Est. Duration Status
Create new react website + Strapi CMS for author profiles Deployment on Akash with funds from DAO Treasury 2 weeks In progress
User login with Dynamic.xyz and author profile building in CMS 2 weeks In progress
Use Secret PaaS to call Fiftywei contract and save encryption key for IPFS data (using account pubkey/privkey from Dynamic) 1st - implement a proof of concept minting tool… 2nd - integrate with React/Strapi Frontend 3 weeks Not started
Onboard 12 web3-native authors to the platform Allow authors to “attest” to their created contracts 3 weeks Not started

Notes: many web3 authors have issued assets on multiple chains. Maintaining provenance across chains increases trust and asset value. Future-proofing assets by removing the requirement of a third-party hosting website is a critical concept in our architecture. Risk areas to mitigate include RPC URL transience, IPFS pinning longevity, and web hosting longevity/uptime.

GOAL 2: Implement transactions involving Secret Network assets

(weeks 6 - 12) $9,500

Milestone Notes Est. Duration Status
Allow creation of Secret Network Native assets - target: 12 new original literary assets & 500 transactions Goal: get authors to submit authentic, original work using the platform. 4 weeks Not started
Implement rudimentary lending and gifting Using secret view capabilities 3 weeks Not started
Implement incentives for actions Actions include referral and subsequent quest fulfillment: profile creation, purchase, gifting, lending 2 weeks Not started
Collect and process user feedback Use on-chain attestation and rewards for feedback 2 weeks Not started

Notes: Our outreach will include prominent Web3 authors and their feedback will be critical to tuning the UX flows, and discovering features

Additional Goals & Milestones

Milestone Notes Est. Duration Status
Verify system functionality using a target of 500 transactions including minting, sales, and lending 500 transactions reflects 12 authors minting and subsequent user actions. 3 weeks Not started
Create rudimentary user dashboard for insights with sharable achievements Dashboard includes stats on page views, asset views, comments, revenue, shares, and referral performance 2 weeks Not started
Onboarding 100 DAO members In addition to users of the platform, we will incentivize users of the platform to participate in governance 4 weeks Not started

Notes: Our goal is not to prevent secondary market trading of assets on their native/home chains. The goal is to entice users on those chains to read and interact with the content using our platform and Secret Network PaaS features.
