<lb ed="#Q"/>Ad quod sic opponitur: 1. <name>Bernardus</name>, in li<lb ed="#Q"/>bro
<title>De libero arbitrio</title><!--2-->: <quote>Deus auctor salutis est,
<lb ed="#Q"/>liberum autem<!--e--> arbitrium capax; nec dare valet
<lb ed="#Q"/>eam nisi Deus, nec capere nisi liberum arbi<lb ed="#Q"/>trium</quote>.
Si ergo in parvulis non est liberum ar<lb ed="#Q"/>bitrium
secundum actum, quia in eis non est usus
<lb ed="#Q"/>liberi arbitrii, relinquitur quod parvuli non sunt
<lb ed="#Q"/>capaces gratiae et ita Deus non est in eis per
<lb ed="#Q"/>inhabitantem gratiam.

<lb ed="#Q"/>parvulis secundum<!--f--> potentiam et hoc sufficit ad
<lb ed="#Q"/>susceptionem gratiae inhabitantis — contra:

<lb ed="#Q"/>esse non potest recipientis quam absque gratia
<lb ed="#Q"/>dantis</quote>; sed impossibile est quod gratia salutis
detur absque gratia dantis; ergo impossibile est
<lb ed="#Q"/>quod detur absque consensu recipientis; cum
<lb ed="#Q"/>ergo in parvulis non sit consensus, non est in
<lb ed="#Q"/>eis potentia ad susceptionem gratiae inhabi<lb ed="#Q"/>tantis.

<quote>Non miseretur. Deus, nisi voluntas
<lb ed="#Q"/>praecesserit</quote>; sed Dei miseratio est suae gratiae
<lb ed="#Q"/>donatio; ergo non dat gratiam, nisi praecedat vo<lb ed="#Q"/>luntas;
cum ergo in parvulis non possit esse vo<lb ed="#Q"/>luntas
vel motus voluntarius, non erunt suscep<lb ed="#Q"/>tibiles
gratiae inhabitantis; ergo Deus non habitat
<lb ed="#Q"/>per gratiam in parvulis.

<lb ed="#Q"/>iustitiam in vitam aeternam per Iesum Christum</quote>;
<lb ed="#Q"/>sed peccatum regnavit usque ad mortem in par<lb ed="#Q"/>vulis
et adultis; ergo gratia, quae est per Iesum
<lb ed="#Q"/>Christum, attinget non solum adultos, sed par<cb ed="#Q" n="b"/><lb ed="#Q"/>vulos;
ergo in ipsis est Deus per inhabitantem

<lb ed="#Q"/>plures abundavit</quote>. Si ergo gratia Iesu Christi in
<lb ed="#Q"/>plures abundat<!--i--> quam peccatum originale, et
<lb ed="#Q"/>peccatum originale attingit parvulos: ergo gratia
<lb ed="#Q"/>Iesu Christi attinget parvulos; ergo in ipsis est
<lb ed="#Q"/>Deus per inhabitantem gratiam.

Si ergo in Adam moriuntur non solum adulti,
<lb ed="#Q"/>sed parvuli, et vivificatio illa est per susceptio<lb ed="#Q"/>nem
gratiae: ergo in parvulis est potentia<!--k--> ad
<lb ed="#Q"/>suscipiendam gratiam<!--4-->; et ita<!--l--> redit idem quod
<lb ed="#Q"/>prius.

<lb ed="#Q"/>Solutio: Dicendum quod<!--m--> in parvulis per vir<lb ed="#Q"/>tutem
Baptismi est Deus per inhabitantem gra<lb ed="#Q"/>tiam.
Sed notandum quod duplex est iniustitia:
<lb ed="#Q"/>est enim iniustitia<!--n--> quam sibi homo facit, et est
<lb ed="#Q"/>iniustitia quae homini fit. Iniustitia prima est
<lb ed="#Q"/>culpa actualis, quam homo facit per suum libe<lb ed="#Q"/>rum
arbitrium; iniustitia secunda est culpa ori<lb ed="#Q"/>ginalis,
quae contrahitur ex culpa Adae et non ex
<lb ed="#Q"/>libero arbitrio eius qui contrahit. Similiter cum
<lb ed="#Q"/>iustificatio nihil aliud sit quam reditus de iniu<lb ed="#Q"/>stitia
ad iustitiam, est<!--o--> iustificatio duplex: una
<lb ed="#Q"/>ad<!--p--> quam homo facit, alia ad quam<!--q--> non facit, sed
<lb ed="#Q"/>ei fit. Et debet esse quod iniustitia, quae homini
<lb ed="#Q"/>fit, removeatur per iustificationem, quae homini
<lb ed="#Q"/>fit; iniustitia vero, quam facit, removeatur per iu<lb ed="#Q"/>stitiam
ad quam iaciat aliquid. De qua iustifica<lb ed="#Q"/>tione
dicit <name ref="#Augustine">Augustinus</name><!--5-->: <quote>Qui<!--r--> te creavit
<lb ed="#Q"/>sine .te, non te iustificat sine te</quote>. Prima est in
<lb ed="#Q"/>parvulo, secunda in adulto. Ex hoc patet quod
<lb ed="#Q"/>non requiritur consensus in iustificatione prima,
<lb ed="#Q"/>quae est parvuli, cum parvulus nihil debeat ibi<!--s-->
<lb ed="#Q"/>facere, sed totum ei fieri; sed in secunda requi<pb ed="#Q" n="83"/><cb ed="#Q" n="a"/><lb ed="#Q"/>ritur
consensus, quia oportet quod faciat aliquid

quod erat in se ad iniustitiam.

<lb ed="#Q"/>potentia liberi arbitrii in parvulo, licet non sit
<lb ed="#Q"/>usus, ad susceptionem gratiae iustificantis, licet
<lb ed="#Q"/>non sufficiat in adulto.

quod est consensus in potentia et in ha<lb ed="#Q"/>bitu<!--c-->
et in actu. Consensus in potentia est in
<lb ed="#Q"/>parvulo; consensus in habitu est in dormiente
<lb ed="#Q"/>adulto, qui firmo proposito, dum vigilaret, con<lb ed="#Q"/>sensit
ut converteretur<!--d--> ad Deum et petiit gra<lb ed="#Q"/>tiam;
consensus in actu est in vigilante, qui fir<cb ed="#Q" n="b"/><lb ed="#Q"/>mum
habet propositum ut ad Deum convertatur.
<lb ed="#Q"/>Si ergo generaliter intelligatur illa auctoritas, de<lb ed="#Q"/>bet
intelligi secundum quod consensus generaliter
<lb ed="#Q"/>dicatur istis tribus modis: et sic verum est quod
<lb ed="#Q"/>non potest esse [potentia] susceptiva gratiae in
<lb ed="#Q"/>qua non est consensus sic vel sic. Consimili au<lb ed="#Q"/>tem
distinctione voluntatis respondendum est ad
<lb ed="#Q"/>obiectum sequens. — Si tamen intelligere<lb ed="#Q"/>mus
illud quod sequitur, loquitur illa auctoritas
<lb ed="#Q"/>de adultis; unde dicit<!--1-->: <quote>Gratiae operanti salutem
<lb ed="#Q"/>cooperari dicitur liberum arbitrium</quote>. Sed libe<lb ed="#Q"/>rum
arbitrium non cooperatur nisi adulto, cum<!--e-->
