non ab alio, est ab aeterno</quote>. Ad privatio<lb ed="#Q"/>nem
ergo principii, posito ente<!--b--> aliquo tali, se<lb ed="#Q"/>quitur
aeternitas; cum<!--c--> ergo de intentione aeter<lb ed="#Q"/>nitatis
sit non solum privatio principii substan<lb ed="#Q"/>tialis,
sed etiam privatio finis, quare non sequitur:

<lb ed="#Q"/>2. Item, quaedam sunt quae non habent prin<lb ed="#Q"/>cipium
nec finem, sicut Deus; quaedam quae ha<lb ed="#Q"/>bent
principium et finem, ut temporalia; quaedam
<lb ed="#Q"/>quae habent principium et non finem<!--3-->, ut perpetua,
ut substantiae spirituales. Videtur ergo ad com<lb ed="#Q"/>plementum
universi quod sit quarta differentia:
<lb ed="#Q"/>eorum quae habent finem, sed non principium.

<lb ed="#Q"/>Respondeo: 1. Ad primum, quoniam omne
<lb ed="#Q"/>quod non habet principium, nihil habet de non
<lb ed="#Q"/>esse in suo esse admixtum; et quia nihil habet
<lb ed="#Q"/>de non esse in suo esse admixtum, non est vertibile
<lb ed="#Q"/>in non esse et ideo non potest habere finem; et
<lb ed="#Q"/>ideo sequitur: si non habet principium, quod non
<lb ed="#Q"/>habet finem, et ita quod est aeternum. Ratio igitur
<lb ed="#Q"/>consequentiae necessaria est: <quote>si aliquid est a se<lb ed="#Q"/>metipso,
quod est ab aeterno</quote>. Ex parte autem
<lb ed="#Q"/>alia, cum omne quod habet principium differens
<lb ed="#Q"/>in substantia, habeat esse post non esse, verti<lb ed="#Q"/>bile
est in non esse et convenit ei non fuisse; et
<lb ed="#Q"/>ideo non poterit esse aeternum, quamvis statuatur
<lb ed="#Q"/>immutabile ad non esse ex voluntate Creatoris.

<lb ed="#Q"/>2. Ad secundum dicendum<!--f--> quod quarta
<lb ed="#Q"/>differentia, scilicet <mentioned>non habere principium, sed ha<lb ed="#Q"/>bere
finem</mentioned>, est impossibilis, quia aut poneretur
<lb ed="#Q"/>creatum aut non creatum. Si ponitur creatum:
<lb ed="#Q"/>iam est habens principium et ideo non est ac<lb ed="#Q"/>ternum.
Si ponitur non creatum: iam, sicut patet
<lb ed="#Q"/>ex dictis<!--4-->, cum nihil habeat admixtum de non esse,
<lb ed="#Q"/>ergo erit aeternum. Nullo ergo modo poterit poni<!--g-->
<lb ed="#Q"/>illa quarta differentia.
