Variable Definitions

These variable definitions are as given in the ROMS documentation

Space and Time Variables
t time
x,y horizontal coordinates
z vertical coordinate
Prescribed Inputs
h(x,y) bottom depth
g magnitude of gravity
f(x,y) Coriolis parameter
\nu, \nu_\theta molecular viscosity and diffusivity
Prognostic Variables
\vec{v} = (u,v,w) velocity vector and x-, y-, z-components
T(x,y,z,t) potential temperature
S(x,y,z,t) salinity
\zeta(x,y,t) surface elevation
Diagnostic Variables
\rho_0+\rho(x,y,z,t) total in situ density
P total pressure \approx -\rho_0 g z
