Steps to Reproduce

Trying to figure out how Second Life worked.

Actual Behavior

I created an account, and the bodies have been 'smeared' since the log in process was completed.

Expected Behavior

I expected that the bodies would not be missing halves of themselves, or to be smeared and that I would not encounter a glitch firsthand, automatically after signing up for an account.

Other information

I am not sure if it is just my computer, or if it is a system error. Either way, I hope that this finds you well, and that the problem may be fixed easily.

Heya Emirose,

There is a known problem with some rigged mesh and fitted mesh on AMD graphics cards with certain graphics settings - please see BUG-5156 and BUG-5139 for this bug.

If you are able to update your graphics driver to at least the 14.4 catalyst, part of this bug will be fixed.
You are using the Catalyst 13.12 driver currently.
The latest driver for you card (14.9 catalyst) can be downloaded here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064
Note: Do not use the 14.9.2 bets driver because it has a bug that causes all rigged mesh to be invisible.
If you are unsure if this is the correct driver for your card or your system is a laptop, please use the AMD autodetect tool to update your drivers: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

Once your driver is updated, the bug filed at BUG-5139 will be fixed and you wlll see non-fitted rigged mesh display correctly on all graphics settings.

The driver update does not fix the glitching on Fitted mesh however.
There is a fix for this problem in the SnowStorm-RC viewer, which can be downloaded here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Project_Snowstorm/3.7.20.296071

If you update your graphics driver and update to the SnowStorm-RC viewer, your problem should be fixed.

Just incase you are still having problems after doing this, you can change some graphics settings to fix the bug:

  • Go to Me -> Preferences -> Graphics -> Advanced.
  • Tick "Advanced Lighting Model" - enabling this setting may cause a drop in performance.
  • If ticking advanced lighting model does not help, then go to Me -> Preferences -> Graphics -> Advanced and untick "Hardware skinning".
  • Be aware that disabling hardware skinning can cause a large performance drop on some systems.

Hope that helps :)
