[BUG-9480] VIP group for Muddys' Music Cafe (over 7000 members) has stopped working properly

Steps to Reproduce

It just stopped working properly. We were trying to "invite to group" and it stopped. When you click on there name...invite to group....the window opens and the group is selected...then you click on the vip name and at the bottom the "send invitations" tab is greyed out. It also shows "loading" in the select roles window.

Actual Behavior

6ffdf9ce-7581-3731-e601-81ee5f9b6842 is the group key for Muddy's Music Cafe, one of the largest clubs in sl. A week ago, our hostess (over 200) are no longer able to invite anyone to group. When you go into the group, it no longer shows a list of any members in there.

Expected Behavior

I was expecting to be able invite a vip to the group as we have for many years. It suddenly stopped for everyone.

Heya Broden,

The hostess role (Muddy's Hostess) in your group does have the "Invite people to this group" ability, but this role does not have any ability which will allow group members in that role to load the group members list.
Since the changes that rolled out in server version 15.05.28.302161, it is no longer possible for group members to load up the members list of groups with over 5000 members unless they specifically belong to a role which requires them to manage the member list.
If the group member list cannot load then the roles list will not populate when attempting to invite a new group member and the invite will fail.

See BUG-9404 for this bug.

As a workaround, all you can do currently is to give the Hostess role an ability which will allow them to load up the group members list, for example the "Assign members to assigners roles" or the "Manage Ban List" ability, in addition to the "Invite people to this group" ability.

The hostess is NOT able to invite people to the group. That is the problem. Suddenly it stopped working to where no one can do the invites. I can not see any members and I understand the walk around but when I look in "roles" all of the assigned roles have a 0 next to them and when clicked upon, the "role" does not show anyone listed in it. We are not able to send invites.

Yeah the Hostess role won't be able to send invites unless it is given an ability that allows the role to load the group members list.
The "Invite people to this group" ability is no longer enough to allow sending group invites for groups with over 5k members.
It isn't going to work untill BUG-9404 is fixed.

You will need to ask one of the group owners or officers to give the hostess role an ability which will allow that role to load the group member list. Once that's done, you will be able to send group invites again.
