Steps to Reproduce

switch off some layers in the alpha HUD

Actual Behavior

I always used to see my body (except classic Head, hands and feet) in pure white. Someone told me to try put off some layer in the alpha HUD. I did...the my upper tattoo on the arms were missing. I can not manage to get it back, no matter what i try. I get the note "data error". New purchase didn't helped me.

Expected Behavior

making my body looks normal under water

Hiya Maurice,

If the problem only happens when your avatar is under Linden water, then this is a known bug when Advanced Lighting Model (ALM) is disabled.
please see issue BUG-9851 for details.

To work around the problem you need to:

  • Either enable Advanced Lighting Model in the viewer preferences - Preferences -> Graphics -> General -> Tick "Advanced Lighting Model".
Note ticking ALM may well cause an unacceptable performance drop in the viewer on your system. If you notice performance is much worse, you can untick ALM again.
  • Or, set your tattoo layers (or whatever mesh body layer is white) to alpha blending instead of alpha masking.
Hopefully there is an option for you to toggle between alpha mask & alpha blend mode on the HUD that came with the mesh body. If there is not, you will need to contact the body creator to suggest adding that option.

Does enabling ALM fix the problem?

Hello

ALM fixed that problem. The Skin now is correct and my tattoo is back like before. Thank you so much for helping me out...my alpha HUD don't got a option to choose anything. Just 2 tattoo layers on/off + clothing layer on/off. But it's fixed...you made my day.
Thank's :)

Great, glad that helped.
Which mesh body are you using? I can grab the demo & check if the tattoo layers apply with masking by default. Bit surprised they do not use blending as default to be honest, especially if there is no option to toggle between blend & mask.

I use the TMP Deluxe M. It keeps me busy since i purchased it. Since i use my classic Head, to me the options to fit it on the body are more than poor. Neckfaders are no big help on this. Thank you...that would be awesome.

Ahhh. I can't test the TMP body without buying the full version. They don't provide a demo body that includes the tattoo/clothing layers, just the free basic body that has no layers.
I see the deluxe body version has 2 tattoo layers though which would cause problems if both layers were set to alpha blending (because of alpha fighting), so I'm going to presume at least one of those tattoo layers is forced to alpha masking, which will cause BUG-9851 to happen under water.
Checking some reviews of that deluxe TPM body it does also appear there is no option to toggle the tattoo & clothing layers between blend & mask mode.

Anyway, seeing as ALM fixed the problem, I'm pretty certain this was a case of BUG-9851, so I'll link this issue as a duplicate of BUG-9851.
