I would like to be able to add a texture map (or maps) to be rendered as a skybox with eep/windlight procedural sky rendered over the top.
This could be accomplished with 2 textures divided into 2x2 tiles providing a total of 8 tiles (at 512px each max) - 6 for the skybox, 1 for the sun and 1 for the moon.
This could be presented as an alternate use for the existing 2 textures assigned for sun and moon with minimal changes to EEP.
Could be literally a single check box
[x] Sun moon textures are a skybox tile set.
Example texture maps attached (the hot pink bits would be alpha as with current sun/moon images)
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
Pros :
A user can create a full scenic skybox.
Industry standard way of creating an environment background.
Could also be used to hint/replace the default reflection cube map (negating the need to put up 6 projected light sources with a 1024 texture on each - yes people do this)
Procedural clouds and sun (etc) drawn over the top would add dynamic richness.
Allows for complex backgrounds to be displayed without the need for geometry
Uses the current texture space provided for by EEP.
Cons :
A user can not have a 1024px image for both the sun & moon (which is excessive for most use cases anyway .. but will be what people use).
