What just happened?

In other sims, when I cam underwater, I can see the water surface no mater what WL it's on. On my region, I can not. I can not change my region's WL/Environmental settings either.

I get the following error: Sorry, the settings couldn't be applied to the region. Leaving the region and then returning may help rectify the problem. The reason given was: The Windlight settings were empty or not well-formed. No changes were made.

What were you doing when it happened?

Building/rezzing.

What were you expecting to happen instead?

To see the water surface, to fix the environment setting

Other information

I am using the latest viewer on DL from the LL website

Hiya Keliah,

I can reproduce this.

I'm pretty sure this problem is going to turn out to be a duplicate of BUG-18248.
The water height on your region is set to 18.95.

If you change the water height to the default of 20, do you then see the water surface?

Regarding the "Sorry, the settings couldn't be applied to the region. Leaving the region and then returning may help rectify the problem. The reason given was: The Windlight settings were empty or not well-formed. No changes were made." error message.

This will happen if you try to set the "Use Second Life default" option under World -> Region/Estate -> Environment when using a non-EEP viewer.
You should be able to change your regions windlight by instead choosing the "Use the following settings" option under the "Use Second Life default" option & choosing an option from the list.

However be aware of another new bug - see BUG-226815 for details.
Changing your region windlight will not fix the water surface bug - only changing the region water height will fix that.
Your region windlight looks nice at the moment, I'd leave it alone because of BUG-226815.

Hi Keliah,

Please try the new EEP viewer to change your regions settings.
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/6.2.0.526104

Note: EEP viewer is a Release Candidate (RC) viewer and is still in-progress, so has other bugs. Once you have set the water height back to 20, then reinstall the default release viewer from https://get.secondlife.com to verify if the issue is resolved.

Please let us know if this fixes the issue and press Info Provided.

Thanks!
