/var/log/app/ does not exist in the container

the /var/log/app/ does not exist in the container and thus the process will not be started.

Can it be added on app deployment?

I'm guessing you have an old version of Docker. Up until recently it wouldn't automatically create the container side of the volume mount if it didn't already exist. Newer versions of Docker will create it.

I'm going to close this out (can't reproduce) and will reopen if this is not the cause.
