First i was trying to get bloodhound engine to work with select (prefetch and ajax), but i failed with 4.0. maybe you could add some more documentation concerning custom dataadapters.

possible duplicate to #3185:
when i destroy and recreate select2 to assign a new data array, the items get merged.
