The Recorder should prioritize "placeholder" attribute over "value" when recording actions.
Here's an interesting example where using the value led to unexpected behavior.
from seleniumbase import BaseCase class RecorderTests(BaseCase): def test_recording(self): self.open("https://www.marvel.com/search") self.click('input[placeholder="Search"]') self.type('input[value="s"]', "s") self.type('input[value="sp"]', "sp") self.type('input[value="spi"]', "spi") self.type('input[value="spid"]', "spid") self.type('input[value="spider"]', "spider") self.type('input[value="spiderm"]', "spiderm") self.type('input[value="spiderman"]', "spiderman")
This would have been much better:
from seleniumbase import BaseCase class RecorderTests(BaseCase): def test_recording(self): self.open("https://www.marvel.com/search") self.type('input[placeholder="Search"]', "spiderman\n")
