Logline: If I can do it, so can you!
Speaker: Lynnette Beers
I have also presented papers at the International Virginia Woolf Conferences. Those papers were more academic and literary than my presentations and panels at writers' conferences.
Bio:
As a full-time, tenured professor of writing for over twenty-five years, my specialty is to teach interactive workshops, thereby getting the participants more engaged and working on tasks that will get them closer to publishing their stories, creative nonfiction pieces, and/or books.
I have been on panels at the Golden Crown Literary Society conferences, and I was a presenter at Chapman University. I taught a workshop to graduate students in the MFA program. For that workshop, I did a presentation on how the students could get their books published. I went through the ins and outs of writing a query letter, searching for publishers, writing a book blurb, etc.
I also taught two workshops when I was a writer in residence on the island of Molokai at the Molokai Arts Center in 2019. One presentation was on how to get published; the other one was on writing memoir.
I have an MFA in fiction, and I have published three novels. My fourth one is finished and will soon be in the hands of my publisher's editor; that book will be out later this year. I teach creative writing at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, California. Additionally, I am a part-time editor for Flashpoint Publications.
