Blood vessels are large structures that can trigger the soma processor. Maybe it would be possible to discriminate between them based on the size of the divergence at the max DBF value. For a spherical soma, it would be zero at the center while the parallel axis of the blood vessel would be non-zero.

Tried using the laplacian (which worked well for toy examples), but on real data the result was a mess.
