Update for new Dropbox API version #228
Comments
I received the following email from Dropbox about this. Hi Ben, On September 28, 2017, we’ll be making some changes to Dropbox that will likely affect the following 3rd party apps linked to your Dropbox account: Shutter. You’re receiving this email because you’ve used these apps at least once within the past month. While we’ve informed all developers about our upcoming changes, the developers for the apps listed above have yet to update their apps accordingly. If they don’t update their apps before September 28, these apps will no longer be able to access Dropbox. That said, any data already saved in Dropbox won’t be affected and will still be accessible from our official web, mobile, and desktop clients. As a recent user of these apps, we recommend you take the following actions:
We understand changes like these can be inconvenient. We hope that the recommendations above help you plan accordingly. If you have any questions about these apps, please contact the apps through their support channels. The Dropbox Team Launchpad Details: #LPC Ben Andersen - 2017-08-12 21:14:31 +0000 |

Thanks for the information, unfortunately, there seems to be no devs to take care of it... Launchpad Details: #LPC Michael Kogan - 2017-09-20 17:16:20 +0000 |
Too bad as I use this quite often.. :( Launchpad Details: #LPC Ben Andersen - 2017-09-20 17:28:43 +0000 |
I had a look on what has to be done. It looks like Dropbox's API v1 has both OAuth1 and OAuth2 support. Shutter was using OAuth1 (importing the Perl module http://search.cpan.org/~kgrennan/Net-OAuth/ which also only supports OAuth1). The new Dropbox API v2 only supports OAuth2. This means, it is not just a matter of changing some API related paths, but changing from OAuth1 to OAuth2 and therefore switching to a different Perl library. Dead now and not working: Launchpad Details: #LPC Stefan Blochberger - 2017-10-02 09:17:43 +0000 |
Until it starts working I just save the image to my dropbox folder and fetch a dropbox link in Nautilus. But I hope it will get fixed eventually! Launchpad Details: #LPC Ben Andersen - 2017-10-02 10:11:48 +0000 |
After seeing http://shutter-project.org/2017/09/after-a-long-time-a-new-bug-fix-release-0-94/, I thought this might be fixed. But alas, it isn't. It is the lone reason I stopped using this amazing piece of software. Launchpad Details: #LPC Lucas Hedding - 2018-04-17 17:53:41 +0000 |
