  • I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates

Feature Description

Implement a system to allow us to import our own custom .CSS files.

  • Potential selling point
  • Allow others to get more involved in FOSS in any way they may not have been able to before.
  • Potential avenue for community building for Signal

Contribution Request

I am willing and able to:

  1. Collate elements to style and logically group to enable ease for others to create their custom styles.
  2. Create interface to allow uploading custom .CSS sheet.

My apologies if this is not a suitable use of Github.

@MBLHarrison Thanks for the feature request. One challenge with this will be the requirement to document all elements in the app and ensuring we don’t frequently break existing stylesheets by changing the structure of the HTML. We probably won’t be able to provide such UI stability in the near-term.

How is the progress on stabilizing the HTML structure?

I am very eager to create a solarized theme variant. :-)

@SebastianSemper FWIW, we plan to make infrastructure changes to the UI in the coming months but if you build your own copy from source, feel free to start working on a theme for yourself 😄

I am looking forward to customizing fonts, which otherwise should be done by entering my CSS codes into deverloper tools every time I open this software.

@guikarist If you're really making that change every time you start up, you might consider running the development version with just a few changes that you continually rebase on top of the latest.

Proposal does not look like implemented. Can it be re-opened back? 🙂

Please re-open.

I also think the concerns @gasi-signal brought up are, while valid, kinda irrelevant. A warning in the UI would suffice?
