Platform Info

Signal Version: 1.36.3
Operating System: Windows 10* 64-bit
Linked Device Version: 4.71.5

Feature request: the conversation options at the top right corner (three dots) are currently only available after selecting a contact from the left-side contact list, please consider also adding the conversation options (three dots) to the left-side contact list whenever the user hovers the mouse over any contact thus allowing the user to archive, delete, etc conversations without needing to open them first.

Thanks—I've filed this as a feature request.

Hey, @EvanHahn-Signal @iDuck12,
That's a great idea. However on my opinion, applying this change on hovering over a contact would be an overload of an excessive functionality (too much information on the screen at once, on every mouse move).

I'd like to suggest adding it upon a right click on a contact, rather than a hover.
believe this is the behaviour Telegram implemented as well on their desktop app (see attached)

Just to clarify, the request is to display the options menu button (three dots) on mouse-over of each contact in the contacts list pane, not the actual menu itself. The options menu should display only after clicking on the three-dot button.

@orenmagen100 For work you intend to do which is so heavily visual like that, please provide mockups we can provide to design before you start work. Then you won't waste your time doing something we can't merge.

What is the normal working flow in these cases of new designs? Is there someone to consult or shall I provide the mock ups myself?

We're all busy here at Signal, so the easiest way to make this happen is to provide full mockups, which our designers can review. It may be a long process, with a lot of iteration.

@scottnonnenberg-signal in this issue page?

@orenmagen100 That would probably be easiest, yes.
