  • I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

I use the flatpak provided by Elagost on my Librem 5. Version 5.31.1.

Description:

Open Signal Desktop
Select a conversation (e.g. Note to self)
Tap the + sign at the bottom right
Select a file (I tested with a .jpg)
Tap the Open button at the top right (the file is shown in the conversation)
Tap the text box at the bottom to start entering text
Make sure the online keyboard is visible by clicking on the keyboard at the very bottom right, outside of Signal.
Start tapping keys on the keyboard

Expected behavior:
The tapped keys appear in the text box and the -key sends the message with the file attached.
Actual behaviour:
The tapped keys are not accepted by Signal.

The maintainer of the arm64 Signal desktop build commented:

I can confirm this issue. You don't even need to send a file, simply pressing the + button is enough. Also it's not just squeekboard. The physical keyboard on my PinePhone exhibits the same issue.
One theory is that it's bwrap causing this. It's used by both the flatpak and by launcher script. But outside of that I really don't have any idea what might be the cause.

Sorry to hear this...unfortunately, we don't support the Flatpak installation and haven't heard reports of this from supported packages, so I'm going to close this issue. I recommend bringing this up with the Flatpak package maintainer.

If someone can reproduce this on an official build, let me know and we're happy to reopen.

There is no official build for Linux ARM64. Or if there is, please let us know and we can reproduce it for you.

Also reproduced a year later in version 6.11 of this build. Sounds like a legitimate issue.
