Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

If you're not closing the Signal App by the App menu or by using the Keyboard Shortcut (CMD+Q), the app will crash.
For example if you right click on the dock icon on macOS and click to "Close Application", the signal-desktop app crashes.
Same if you using AppleScript "to tell application Signal-Desktop to quit".

In all other types of closing the app, like the top main menu, or pressing the shortcut keyboard to close an application. it works fine.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Signal App
  2. Right click on dock icon of signal desktop app
  3. Click in the context menu on "quit".

Expected result

Closing without crash

Actual result

Crashes on close.

@hendrikreimers Hi there, sorry this is happening for you. I wasn't able to repro this locally. Could you help us by providing a debug log (Menu -> View -> Debug Log) or by trying the beta: https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/360007318471-Signal-Beta (beta provides some more crash-related info which would be helpful)

@ayumi-signal Thank you for your quick reply.
I just reinstalled Signal and now it works again. I don't know what happened before, maybe some files were corrupted.
