Ruby environment is quite large and maybe optional?

about 200MB. I understand why (it's a whole Ruby virtual env and library), but

• I don't Ruby, only incidentally through this script and some other tools
• maybe this belongs in ~/lib? (issue 39% of this repo is vimscript, and I don't use vim #6)
• maybe it only installs in an init step which I could just disable? (I should consider this similar to python, issue python init fails #7)

Need to work out the answers to these before deciding what course to take.

it's sourced in source/50_ruby.sh and if you move it, this is what happens on a new shell:

mkdir: /Users/mjl/.rbenv/shims: Not a directory
mkdir: /Users/mjl/.rbenv/versions: Not a directory
