I made experiments with low values of overhang threshold, and it seems like with values < 7 support might disappear completely even under horizontal overhangs, that are supposedly = 0 degree.
This affects both bridges, when the new checkbox "Don't support bridges" is unchecked, and overhangs extending into the air as well, that of course can't be printed without a support.
I might add a stl file if needed, but it's very easy to reproduce, just put a larger cube on top of another one.

Please post STL and INI file. It's much easier to download supplied files and verify described behavior/look at cause/discuss results/confirm resolved problem. Without test case it's much more time consuming and lot of work will be duplicated ...
Wow, that is weird. Even more interestingly, if you check "Don't support Bridges" it adds the support. If you then uncheck it again the support remains.
