Running Firefox 10.8.2 with Java 7 update 15. SCR331 USB CAC Reader. Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2. Macbook Air.

I'm having this issue with the Java login Applet on DCO and my CAC reader.

If I don't have my CAC reader connected to my Macbook Air and go to https://www.dco.dod.mil website, the Java Login Applet will load for simple and cac authentication. CAC Pin: Is grayed out and there is a message that says "Cannot look for CAC, missing hardware or software." I connect my USB CAC reader and insert my card but neither are detected. I refresh the website and I can see the Java applet attempting to load but then it "disappears" and I see nothing on my screen where the applet should be. This only occurs if I have my CAC reader connected. I was able to recreate this issue on another Macbook Air and Pro using three different CAC readers. NOTE: I have no issues (thus far) with any other CAC /Java enabled websites.

Recap:

1.DCO Java Login Applet will not load properly while USB CAC reader is plugged into Macbook Air. (Applet is blank)
2.With CAC reader unplugged, Java Applet loads properly but fails to recognize that my CAC reader and card are present once I connect them to my Air.
3.Refresh of page results in the Applet not loading properly again.

I emailed this exact description to DCO support and got "Sir, (uh I'm not a Sir as apparent by my name) This is either a JAVA error on your PC (no PC here... 2 Macbook Airs and a Pro) or a firmware issue with your CAC Reader (used three different types of readers and already checked firmware).

Anyways, I'm stumped! I thought it might be a Java issue but with the CAC reader variant I thought I might ask you guys. Sorry if this isn't the right forum but I really need this to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jenny Matheney
