Does Mastodon still require Atom feed? #283

The BF docs currently say it requires an Atom feed pretty prominently, but for ActivityPub services at least, the only reason we need it is old cargo cult Mastodon interoperability, and I don't even know if that still applies any more. @gRegorLove offered to try without, thank you, keep us posted!

We do use the Atom feed for OStatus interop, but I don't know how long we'll want to keep that around: #282

Looks like Mastodon may no longer need Atom! I tried adding the redirects to granary.io, without an Atom feed, and indieweb.social finds it fine:

Oddly mas.to doesn't though:

indieweb.social is on 3.5.3, mas.to is on 4.0.0rc4, but mas.to finds @snarfed.org@snarfed.org ok, so I'm not sure the version difference is related.

mastodon.art is on 4.0.2 and finds it ok. I'm going to call this a win and 🤷 about mas.to.
