#544 represents a base class with similar features to the older DaemonApp. Ideas for enhancements have arisen, but I don't want to turn that PR into a moving goalpost. Ideas can be recorded here, instead.

Integrate logger stats. (Number of errors, warnings, etc.)

Global process monitor (see ocean.io.select.client.EpollProcess -- SafeFork also need something like this).
