Going forward, some of the assumptions about setup and deployment may be made more modular. I like the fact that it's opinionated, but it might be nice to have some flexibility in these areas (e.g. bower is supported out of the box but perhaps this should be optional). We've been thinking about a migration process for old applications - how do you take an application written for v1.x of utopia and migrate it easily to v2.x. As part of the migration process you could have per-gem migrations - so that if you included a particular gem, and it was updated, it can systematically update your site source code.
