On first start, or if e.g. after the installation of a new version a fresh config file, e.g. qirx4.config is being created, the software replaces in the config file some placeholder with the name of the logged-in user, for being able to create its data directory tree in the AppData folder of Windows.
With the French é (and possibly other special characters of other languages) this does not work properly. Instead of the é, a questionmark ? is written into the config file.
This has the consequence of extremely luggish working of qirx, and other strange and erroneous behavior.
The issue is currently under investigation.
As a workaround, the config file (e.g. qirx4.config) should be manually edited in a text editor, and all questionmarks ? replaced with the proper character like the é. After this procedure everything should work as intended.
Remark: The AppData directory is located in Windows here: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\...
or from within QIRX by pushing the "Home" button on the top line.
