Description of Issue

From Forge version 34.1.33 onwards, only when OptiFine is activated, Minecraft crashes on world load. It doesn't even get to the screen where it shows the progress, it just says "Loading world data", then "Saving world" and finally it crashes; if creating a new world with experimental parameters, however, the warning about such parameters does appear before the game crashes.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install OptiFine over Forge
  2. Boot up Minecraft
  3. Create a world or boot up an existing one
  4. The game crashes.

OptiFine Version

I could reproduce this on 1.16.3_HD_U_G3 and G4

Installation Method

I ran the OptiFine file, chose Extract and dropped the extracted file into my "Mods" folder. I have no other option as I use Forge.

Forge Version

At least 34.1.33 to 34.1.42

Other Installed Mods

None.

Log Files/Crash Reports

latest.log

F3 Debug Screenshot

Can't include since I can't go ingame.

Prior Testing

  • Does this happen without other mods installed? Yes
  • Does this happen without any mods at all? Yes
  • Does this happen in Vanilla without OptiFine? No

Not for me, 34.1.41 crashes the same as 34.1.42. I haven't tried all versions in the given range, but I tried at least 5-6 different versions and they all crash, hence my statement.

Reproducible on Forge 35.0.2 and OptiFine 1.16.4 HD U G4 pre1 (and attempted with multiple machines with differing OS)

The Optifine G4 pre1 doesn't work with Forge 35.00, .01, or .02. This is rough on my old laptop, practically needs optifine for 30fps.

Can confirm it's fixed on Optifine 1.16.3 HD U G5. I'm closing this issue. Thanks to the developers!
