What is the purpose of the member constitution?

Would you like something simple (missions statement, objectives, key agreements, etc), moderate (+guidelines / code of conduct, etc), or more complex (+"governing" organisational structure, procedural system, policies, etc --or, measures to generate these)? I have some experience (in some cases, rather more than "some") in each of these cases. Currently, I am involved with a personal project for a governing "template" for a proposed collective of organisations, which might be suitable for our needs here. Although that project is not yet finished, I would be happy to provide some excerpts, if it might be of interest.
