From LICENSE:1

GNU AFFERO GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
Version 3, 19 November 2007

From README:3

Licence: GNU GPL v3

I believe README to be incorrect. Confirm?

Wait :)

11:53 < genjix> ThomasV: i thought the electrum server is AGPL? it makes more sense to license it as
such.
12:23 -!- masori [~masori@gateway/tor-sasl/masori] has joined #electrum
13:01 < ThomasV> genjix: no, it's GPL.
13:05 < ThomasV> genjix, Animazing: oh sorry, it's AGPL indeed. I just checked what I did
13:06 < ThomasV> but I guess I could relicence it as GPL if someone is intereested
13:06 < ThomasV> GPL is less restrictive, and can be interesting if someone wants to create a
commercial server
13:07 < ThomasV> Animazing: so, currently the client is GPL and the server is AGPL
13:16 < genjix> ok yeah. i remember now a conversation we had about this.
