I'm working on Streets GL — a web-based 3D OpenStreetMap renderer. The goal of this project is to showcase the feature-rich OSM database and provide the mapping community with a tool to validate 3D mapping.

Running this project is not free because of server costs which come down to ~$70 per month.
Currently, this project requires:

  • A Node.js server to serve elevation and vector tiles;
  • An S3-compatible storage for elevation and vector tiles;
  • A AWS EC2 r6id.4xlarge instance to update vector tiles several times a month.
