Become a sponsor to Spyros Smparounis

Welcome to my GitHub Sponsors profile, and thank you for checking me out :)

My name is Spyros, and I am a surgeon and computer scientist living in Greece.

While coding started as a hobby for me, I eventually was lucky enough to complete the prestigious curriculum of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens, which opened up a whole new set of doors for me, both professionally and on a more personal level. I continue practicing Medicine as my day job, alongside my duties as a scientific associate for the Athens Medical School, and I code on my spare time.

Developing applications is still as fun and fulfilling as it always was for me, but the necessities of daily life severely restrict the amount of time I have available for pursuing this passion of me. I strongly believe that open-source and free software is one of the greatest inspirations of our time, and coding practical solutions for everyday problems, especially for supporting hardware that is out there right now (and maybe even in actual daily use for some time now) should be perceived as a golden opportunity by every non-professional coder such as me - and that brings us to your contribution.

Supporting non-professional developers is fundamental to promoting a coding culture among the general populace. There are a lot of people out there that have at least a basic grasp of coding, and still go about their day jobs, but have no incentives to pursue this avenue and improve their skills. This is where you come in: by sponsoring me, you contribute your own effort to dispelling the myth that only professionals can and should code, and prove, beyond any doubt, that everyone has a reason to write their own programs and share them for free with the rest of the world.

Godspeed, and thank you for putting up with me. To the next adventure!
