Osmocom is a community of open source developers engaging in a variety of open source software (but also open source hardware) projects around mobile / cellular communications. We started in 2008 withy OpenBSC, then started OsmocomBB on the telephone side in 2010.
Our projects cover SDR topics (rtl-sdr, gr-osmosdr), incorporate the entire 2G/3G cellular stack (BTS, BSC, MSC, HLR, SGSN, GGSN, MGW) but also SIM card programming (pySim), SIM card protocol tracing (SIMtrace2) or even an USB E1 adapter.
Some of the more niche projects include software for receiving the TETRA and APCO25 trunked radio, as well as GMR-1 satellite telephony.
We believe in 100% open source software protected by strong copyleft licenses.
