I'm interested in how and why things work the way they do. As a programmer, that means how computers work. My focus in university was "operating systems and hardware" which was a track available at the time at my alma mater University of California, Santa Cruz (go Banana Slugs!). With computers, it doesn't get more basic than the operating system and how it interacts with the hardware. This also lead me to distributed systems and the challenges (and learning opportunities!) building such software. As I got into Java, the JVM and how it works drew my attention - bytecode generation, JIT, GC, classloading, etc.

So now as I focus my time, I'm getting back into these areas, particularly operating system fundamentals, but also new languages like Rust, in particular combining the two. I decided to set up this GitHub Sponsor profile in case anyone might be interested in supporting me.
