Keith Donald opened SPR-6140 and commented

Currently only the sourceType Class<?> can be provided. This makes it impossible to access generic information to use for type conversion when mapping two object structures. For consistency and to eliminate this gap, the sourceType TypeDescriptor should also be specifiable.
